Typically, a booking isn’t created until checkout is complete. To help prevent overbookings or double bookings when multiple customers are ordering at the same time, BookThatApp supports a reservation system that temporarily holds items during checkout.
💡 How It Works
When a product is reserved, it’s temporarily taken out of stock for the selected dates/times. The reservation stays in effect until it either expires or the customer completes checkout.
Example Scenario
1️⃣ Customer A visits Product A (capacity: 2) and selects March 1 for 2 spots.
2️⃣ At the same time, Customer B opens the same product and selects March 1 for 1 spot, then clicks Add to Cart.
3️⃣ When Customer A also clicks Add to Cart, the system checks availability.
Without reservations → Overbooking happens ❌
With reservations → Customer A sees an error message and can adjust their quantity or date ✅
Since reserved items are temporarily removed from inventory, once Customer A adds to cart, Customer B won’t be able to pick the same time slot.
🧩 The Reservation Widget
The Reservation Widget powers this feature in BookThatApp.
-
🆕 New customers (2024 and later) automatically have this widget installed.
-
🧭 Existing users can enable it manually:
Steps to Enable
-
In the BookThatApp Admin, go to Widgets.
-
In the Reservations section, select Enable.
You’ll also see a “Click here” link in this section — this opens the widget settings for configuration.
Would you like me to standardize this format (clear headings, emojis for readability, and callout notes) across the other articles we’ve been revising?
⏳ Avoid long expiration times (e.g., 24 hours) — abandoned carts could hold your inventory and cause you to miss out on other bookings.
