A blackout marks specific dates and/or times as unavailable in your booking calendar ποΈ. These blocked-out periods cannot be selected by customers when making a booking π«.
π οΈ What kind of blackouts can I create?
You can create blackouts to cover:
π Specific times during a day
π Entire days (for holidays, maintenance, etc.)
π Recurring blackouts (like weekends or regular closures)
You can create blackouts at a store, location, resource, product, or variant level π¬.
βοΈ How do I create a blackout?
Click on the Calendar link in the BTA admin.
Click on Blackouts, then select the Add Blackout button in the upper right-hand corner of the calendar β.
Date & Time
- Check the All day box if the blackout is for the full day β°. Otherwise, set:
- Start date and Start time
- Finish date and Finish time
Select the Scope:
- Start Date β The blackout applies only to bookings starting on the selected date.
- Overlapping β Bookings are blocked if any part of the booking falls within the blackout period β.
Example: Your product has a 3-night duration and you create a blackout for Jan 2:
- Start Date: Bookings can start on Jan 1, even though Jan 2 is blocked.
- Overlapping: Jan 1 cannot be selected, as it would overlap with the blackout date.
Services, Locations & Resources
- Under Services, click Add Service to limit the blackout to specific services. Leave empty to block all services π.
- Under Locations, search and select specific locations to limit the blackout to. Leave empty to block all locations.
- Under Resources, search and select specific resources to limit the blackout to. Leave empty to block all resources.
Notes & Colors
- Add any internal notes about the blackout in the Notes field (optional β not visible to customers).
- Customize the Background Color, Text Color, and Border Color to control how the blackout displays on the calendar. Use the Preview in Calendar section to see how it will appear.
Recurring Schedule
- Check Enable recurring schedule if you want the blackout to repeat π.
- Click Add Dates to open the Custom recurrence settings.
- Set Repeat every (e.g., 1 Day, Week, Month).
- Optionally check specific Months and/or Days the recurrence should apply to.
- Choose when the recurrence Ends: Never, On a specific date, or After a number of occurrences.
- Click Save.
- Use the Calendar Preview to confirm the recurring dates are correct before saving.
- Hit Save πΎ
