BookThatApp automatically uses your Shopify store's time zone for all bookings. But if you run events in different locations or want to help customers see times in their local zone, we've got you covered!
π Setting Your Default Time Zone
Your store's main time zone comes from your Shopify settings:
In your Shopify admin:
- Go to Settings
- Find Standards and formats
- Choose your Time zone
- Save your changes
π Adding Time Zones to Locations
Running events in different cities? You can set a specific time zone for each location so customers see the right local times.
In BookThatApp:
- Open Settings β Locations
- Select the location you want to update
- Choose the appropriate Time zone
- Save your changes
Now all events at that location will display in the correct local time!
π Let Customers See Their Local Time
Want to make it even easier for customers? Enable the time zone helper so they can see event times in their own time zone.
In BookThatApp:
- Go to Widgets
- Select the widget you want to update
- Check the box for "Time zone helper"
- Save your changes
πΊοΈ What Time Is Shown Where?
Different parts of BTA display time in different zones. If a customer reports a mismatch, use this as your first reference:
| Where | Time zone shown | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storefront widget | Location timezone (if set); customers can change their timezone within the widget | What customers see when browsing |
| Admin runsheet | Store timezone but can be toggled to include local time | Always reflects your Shopify store setting |
| Order confirmation email | Product's location or the store's timezone | Sent at checkout; uses either the timezone of the location (if one was assigned to the product) or the store timezone if no location was assigned. |
| BTA reminder email body | Product's location or the store's timezone | Not the customer's local time |
| .ics calendar file | UTC | Customer's calendar app converts to their local time automatically |
Tip: If a customer reports a wrong time in their confirmation or reminder email, check that your Shopify store time zone and your BTA location time zone are in sync. A mismatch between the two is the most common cause.
Note: .ics files store time in UTC by the iCalendar standard β this isn't a bug. Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar all convert it to the customer's local time automatically, so the time shown in their calendar may differ from what's displayed in BTA.
